The distance you owe before the first profit

Entry costs you the spread immediately, and every night you hold adds the swap. Break-even is the point where the move has paid both back β€” everything to the right of the marker is profit.

The default numbers are a one-lot EUR/USD trade held three nights. Put your own instrument's spread, swap and pip value in β€” all three are on its page, and the calculator above gives the pip value in your account currency.

Factor in the spread

The P&L shown above is calculated on price movement alone. Your actual trade profit will be lower by the spread β€” FxPro's typical USD/INR spread of around 3 pips means your effective entry is 3 pips worse than the quoted price. Always subtract the spread cost from your take-profit target when planning trade entries.

FxPro's cTrader platform offers tighter raw spreads with a transparent per-trade commission structure β€” worth exploring if you are an active short-term trader looking to reduce overall trading costs.

How to use this calculator

01

Select your instrument and direction

Choose the currency pair, metal, index or crypto you traded. Select Buy (long) or Sell (short). The calculator supports USD/INR and other INR crosses, major pairs, gold, silver, NAS100, US30, Bitcoin and Ethereum.
02

Enter entry and exit prices

Type the exact prices at which you entered and exited the trade. The calculator measures the pip distance, converts it to your account currency at the current exchange rate, and multiplies by your lot size.
03

Read your P&L, pips and return on account

The main result shows your profit or loss in rupees (or USD/EUR). Below it: total pips captured, per-pip value for your position, and what percentage of your account balance this trade represents.

Frequently asked questions

How does the P&L formula work?

P&L = (Exit βˆ’ Entry) Γ— direction Γ— contract size Γ— lots, converted to your account currency. For a 1-lot Buy on USD/INR from 83.2000 to 83.4500: difference = 0.2500, pips = 250, pip value = β‚Ή10/pip/lot, P&L = β‚Ή2,500.

What is the difference between the P&L calculator and the Trade Planner below?

The P&L calculator computes the realised profit or loss from a trade you have already entered β€” or are modelling from historical prices. The Trade Planner below is a pre-trade tool: you enter your planned entry, stop-loss and take-profit to see the risk/reward ratio before you enter.

Why does the pip value change when I switch instruments?

Each instrument has a different contract size and pip size. USD/INR: 1,000 units per lot, pip = 0.0025, so β‚Ή2.50/pip/lot. Gold (XAU/USD): 100 oz per lot, pip = $0.01, so $1.00/pip/lot. Bitcoin: 1 unit per lot, point = $1, so $1/point/lot. The calculator applies the correct specification for each.

What does 'return on account' mean?

Return on account is your P&L expressed as a percentage of your account balance. If you made β‚Ή2,500 on a β‚Ή50,000 account, that is a 5.0% return. This normalises the result so you can compare trades regardless of position size.

How is spread cost calculated?

Spread cost = spread in pips Γ— pip value per lot. It represents the immediate cost of entering the trade from the broker's bid-ask spread. For example, a 15-pip spread on USD/INR at 1 lot costs β‚Ή37.50 on entry. This amount must be overcome before the trade is profitable.
